1896
A Sketch of the first Lockport Country Club by Mr. Joe Whalen
The formal opening of the Lockport Country Club was held on October 31, 1896 at the club house, about a mile and quarter south of the city. Back in the log cabin days on Hamm Road, tennis court and croquet grounds were featured, along with baseball games at what was called the Lockport Country Club.

Due to increase memberships and growing interest in golf, Lockport Country Club in 1902 moved to the Horace Flagler house at 472 Locust St., where it was christened the Town and Country Club. Ball games, tennis, golf, archery and even ping-pong tournaments were hosted there. Skating took place in winter.
1912

To accommodate growing membership, Lockport announced its plans to build in Chestnut Ridge Heights, on what was known then as the Van Shuler property. It was hoped the new 40-acre site would open before the end of the year but construction took longer than anticipated.
The grand opening was held on Jan. 30, 1913 and the Town and Country Club became the place to be seen in Lockport. The location in every way was ideal since the clubhouse overlooked the heart of Niagara’s fruit region and the view includes the blue waters of the lake. At its opening, the Buffalo Courier described the 9-hole golf course as “the finest golf links in the world.”
